Disney Teams Up With CreativeSoul Photography To Re-Imagine Disney Princesses Through A Diverse Lens

Disney has teamed up with Black-owned brand CreativeSoul Photography to reimagine classic Disney princesses through a more diverse lens.
Beloved princesses like Snow White, Rapunzel, Tiana, and Cinderella will feature natural hair hairstyles and dresses with vibrant African-inspired fabrics.
The CreativeSoul dolls are inspired by the photographs Disney commissioned for their newest cruise ship, The Wish. The photos showcase Black girls and boys who are styled as well-known princesses and princes from Disney films.
“Our mission has always been to bring bold, inspiring images of people of color to life,” Kahran Bethencourt, who runs CreativeSoul Photography with partner Regis Bethencourt, said in a news release.
Regis added, “We are both excited and proud of this project and hope that through the lens of photography, it will help further empower young girls of color and show they can be a princess too.”
The dolls will be available on shopDisney.com on February 3 at 10 a.m. ET. and will retail for $59.99. In addition to being available online, the dolls will be sold at both Walt Disney World and Disneyland.
The founders will be on hand at EPCOT's International Festival of the Arts presented by AT&T from February 3 through February 20. A series of photographic prints will be available at the festival. The prints come in two different sizes, and a bonus print featuring Elsa will be available.
