Peter Rosenberg Apologizes For Offensive Kelly Rowland Question

Hot 97 radio host Peter Rosenberg made a mistake during Kelly Rowland’s appearance on the Ebro in the Morning show and is taking responsibility for the misstep.

The singer stopped by the show with Marsai Martin to promote their movie Fantasy Football when Rosenberg asked her about playing “second” to Beyoncé in Destiny’s Child. He compared being in the group with the superstar as standing next to “the brightest light on planet earth.”

“Here’s the thing: light attracts light. I am light,” Rowland said.

She continued, “I am a beautiful brown shining light. So I don’t think anybody’s light dims anyone else’s. I think that when other people start to compare you ... that’s when it shows how dim they are of themselves.”

Rosenberg immediately faced backlash over the question, while Rowland was praised for her response.

On Thursday, Rosenberg admitted that the question came off as offensive, and he knew almost immediately. The radio host admitted he gave himself the good ol’ “Congratulations You Played Yourself” as soon as Rowland walked out.

“As soon as she left, I said, ‘I don’t think I asked that question right. I think I messed up,’” Rosenberg explained. He reached out to the Grammy-winning singer via message to apologize.

“Kelly Rowland, to me ― it’s like so obvious that she’s an iconic star that, like, I didn’t think twice about bringing it up as a conversation,” he added.
