Raekwon And Ghostface Killah Perform 'The Purple Tape' As Part Of 'VIBES' Concert Series

Raekwon’s Only Built 4 Cuban Linx, often referred to as The Purple Tape, is an undeniable hip hop classic album. On Monday, the Chef took the stage at Sony Hall in New York City with fellow Wu-Tang Clan member Ghostface Killah to perform various hits from the album as part of Ja Rule’s VIBES concert series.

Both emcees looked quite dapper on stage, dressed in suits. The duo was backed by a full band comprised of two electric guitar players, two keyboard players, and a drummer. The highly talented Bobbi Storm provided additional vocals. The two icons performed hits like “Incarcerated Scarfaces,” “Ice Cream,” “Can’t It Be All So Simple (Remix),” and “All That I Got Is You.”

Throughout the evening, Rae reminisced about making OB4CL, reflecting on being a street kid in his prime. Ghostface joined in, at one point describing how Raekwon came up with a verse while they were touring in Germany. He noted it was their first time flying, and hearing those behind-the-scenes tales feels so special.

The event was part of the VIBES concert series, which allows artists to not only perform their hit records but also talk about their personal journeys. It enables the iconic artists to connect with their audience on a deeper level by telling the stories behind some of their greatest works. The Raekwon and Ghostface Killah show kicked off the series. The event was streamed on the ICONN LIVE app.
