Sanders showed up in a casual brown Burton coat and the cutest little mittens made by a Vermont school teacher. The Senator from Vermont defended his outfit, saying it was born out of convenience and meant to keep him warm.
"In Vermont, we know something about the cold," Sanders said in an interview with CBS News's Gayle King following the inauguration, "and we're not so concerned about good fashion."
Of course, the Twitter-verse immediately took notice. Sanders quickly became a trending topic, and the memes were nothing short of epic.
